St. Louis Alton and Terre Haute Ry. (dba St. Louis and Cairo Short Line and St. Louis and Paducah Ry., or the Egyptian Route, after 1882)Opened in 1862, leased its mainline to the Indianapolis and St. Louis in 1882. The remaining Cairo Short Line became part of the Ill. Cent. in 1895.
